# ERISApedia: Plan Data Intelligence, Pricing, and a Fair Alternative

*FiduciarySignal — updated 2026-10-05. Canonical: https://www.fiduciarysignal.com/alternatives/erisapedia*

ERISApedia is a PensionPro-owned ERISA research and Form 5500 data service for ERISA professionals, financial advisors, and CPA plan auditors; its 401k prospecting product, the Plan Data Intelligence ReSource, is listed at $2,087 for one Access ID up to $4,175 for five, on what its pricing page calls simple annual subscriptions (as published, read 2026-10-05). It searches Form 5500 data and the attachments filed with it, and includes an operational Benchmark Report at no additional cost. If you want a 401(k) prospecting alternative with a published monthly price, FiduciarySignal is $90 a month after a 7-day trial or $900 a year: its Report Card produces a Plan Report, a Benchmark Report, and a Summary Report as Word files, and its Change Predictor ranks the plans in your territory most likely to change providers.

This page covers what ERISApedia is, what it costs, how ForceManager 5500 relates to it, and when another tool fits better. One disclosure first: we build FiduciarySignal, a competing 401(k) prospecting product. That is why every fact about ERISApedia below links to the page we read it on, with the date. Check the work rather than taking our word for it.

## What is ERISApedia?

ERISApedia is mostly a technical research library, with a data product alongside it. Its homepage names three audiences — ERISA pros, financial advisors, and CPA plan auditors — and its product list runs well past prospecting: compliance research eSources for 403(b), 457, defined benefit and cash balance plans, plan corrections, distributions, and the Form 5500 itself; an Ask the Author question service; an ERISA Fiduciary Navigator; and two data products, **Plan Data Intelligence** and **CPA Plan Audit Prospecting**. The site describes itself as "A product of AmericanTCS's PensionPro," and its footer reads "© 2026 PensionPro Software LLC."

Source: [ERISApedia homepage](https://www.erisapedia.com/) (as published, read 2026-10-05). So if all you need is a way to find and prioritize 401k plans to call, you are comparing one product from a much broader research shop.

## What does ERISApedia Plan Data Intelligence do?

The pricing page calls it "Our comprehensive 5500 search engine with over hundreds of search criteria, including capability to search the attachments to the 5500 (Includes Benchmarking)." The product page fills that in:

- **Attachment search.** "This allows a fast full-text search of over 2.0 million pages of form attachments." Most Form 5500 tools search the structured fields only.
- **Search criteria.** Location, plan type, sponsor type, asset range, participant count, average participant account balance "and hundreds of other criteria," plus search "by TPA/Recordkeeper for most of the large recordkeepers and many TPAs."
- **Benchmark Report.** "An operational Benchmark Report is also available on ERISApedia's Plan Data Intelligence prospecting tool for no addtional [sic] cost." It "Provides comparisons to the plan's peer group based on industry type and plan size," and "The database currently includes 176 peer groups (updated monthly)."
- **Report format.** "Reports include comparisons to eight highly relevant metrics," delivered "as a Microsoft Word file so the report may be further customized." The page also offers a Sample Plan Report as a Word download.
- **Contacts and outreach.** "It also includes verified email addresses for plan sponsors," and you can "Create highly customized emails using Generative AI based on the benchmarking KPIs you select."

## ERISApedia pricing: what does it cost?

ERISApedia publishes its prices, which deserves credit — plenty of this category still makes you book a call first. Prices scale with the number of Access IDs, from one to five:

| Product (as listed) | 1 Access ID | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 Access IDs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plan Data Intelligence ReSource | $2,087 | $2,609 | $3,131 | $3,653 | $4,175 |
| CPAP / PDI Combo (CPA Prospecting + Plan Data Intelligence) | $2,287 | $2,859 | $3,431 | $4,003 | $4,575 |
| CPA Prospecting ReSource | $1,043 | $1,460 | $1,877 | $2,294 | $2,711 |
| 5500 eSource (a research guide, not the prospecting database) | $407 | $570 | $733 | $920 | $1,145 |

Source: [ERISApedia pricing](https://www.erisapedia.com/pricing/) (as published, read 2026-10-05). The page describes "Simple annual subscriptions," says "Call for pricing with more than 5 users up to unlimited," and notes that licensing two or more products "may earn a multiple product discount." Prices change; this is a dated snapshot, not a quote.

Two notes. The 5500 eSource is, in the pricing page's words, "A complete guide to all 5500 series forms, schedules & attachments" — a reference work, not a plan search. And the CPA Prospecting ReSource is "built exclusively for plan auditors," so an advisor is usually pricing Plan Data Intelligence.

## What is ForceManager 5500 — is it an ERISApedia product?

Not exactly. ForceManager 5500 is a CRM from ForceManager that runs on ERISApedia's data. ERISApedia's product page says: "ERISApedia has been selected as the [...] data provider for ForceManager 5500. ForceManager 5500 is the first Sales Enablement tool to combine plan data intelligence with a robust CRM." ForceManager's landing page says it "is powered by ERISApedia data," describes a prospecting tool that "comes pre-populated with 5500 data and plan reports," and lists 5500 benchmarking reports, geolocation of plan sponsors, and video calls logged inside the CRM. It is marked "In partnership with FIG."

That ForceManager page shows no price and its footer reads "© 2011-2020, ForceManager," so confirm current availability and terms with ForceManager directly.

## What ERISApedia does well

- **Full-text attachment search.** Searching more than 2.0 million pages of filed attachments is a genuine differentiator if you need what sits in the audit report or schedule of assets, not just the form fields.
- **Technical depth behind the data.** The same vendor sells ERISA compliance research and an Ask the Author service. For TPAs and ERISA professionals, that pairing is hard to match.
- **Published, per-user pricing.** You can see what one to five Access IDs cost before you talk to anyone.
- **An editable benchmark report,** delivered as a Word file, with peer groups updated monthly by its own description.
- **A product built for CPA plan auditors,** if audit services are what you sell.

## ERISApedia vs FiduciarySignal

Both start from the same public Form 5500 filings, and both hand you a benchmark report you can put on a sponsor's table. The difference is the second half: ERISApedia is built for deep search and research; FiduciarySignal is built to tell you which plans in your territory to call first. The right-hand column is ours.

| | ERISApedia Plan Data Intelligence | FiduciarySignal |
|---|---|---|
| Core job | Search Form 5500 data and filed attachments, benchmark a plan, find sponsor emails | Grade a plan from its Form 5500 (Report Card) and rank a territory by the likelihood of a provider change (Change Predictor) |
| Published price | $2,087 (1 Access ID) to $4,175 (5 Access IDs); annual subscriptions | FiduciarySignal: $90/month after a 7-day trial, or $900/year |
| Users | 1 to 5 Access IDs priced on the page; call above 5 | One user, plus up to 2 extra seats at $19.99/month each |
| Plan reports | Operational Benchmark Report (eight metrics) as a Word file; Sample Plan Report offered as a Word download | Plan Report, Benchmark Report, and Summary Report as Word (.docx) downloads — capped monthly on the monthly plan, unlimited on annual |
| Search depth | Hundreds of criteria plus full-text search of 2.0 million+ pages of attachments | Territory search by ZIP, radius, or state; attachment full-text search is not a feature we publish |
| Contacts | Verified email addresses for plan sponsors | The Form 5500 signer's contact details |
| Which plans are likely to move | No forward ranking published on the pages we read | Ranks plans by the likelihood of a winnable provider change, back-tested against the next year's Form 5500 filings |
| Ongoing monitoring | None published on the pages we read | Saved territories and weekly digests |
| Outreach | Generative AI emails built from the benchmarking KPIs you select | Per-plan talking points plus a merge-ready outreach email grounded in that plan's filing |

## The same three reports — and a different question

If your workflow is "pull the plan, print the report, walk into the meeting," both products do that job. FiduciarySignal's **401(k) Report Card** grades any plan from its own Form 5500 — administrative cost against genuinely comparable peers, participation, red flags, the provider roster — and produces a Plan Report, a Benchmark Report, and a Summary Report as Word files you can edit.

Here's the thing, though: a report describes a plan's last filing. It cannot tell you which of the hundreds of plans in your territory deserves the meeting this quarter. That is the **Change Predictor**'s job. It ranks the plans in your territory most likely to make a winnable provider change — trustee, custodian, recordkeeper or administrator — built on ten years of Form 5500 filings and back-tested against the next year's filings. It is strongest at the top of the list: a work-the-top-of-the-list tool, never certainty about any single plan. Built on public DOL EFAST2 data; not affiliated with the Department of Labor.

Fidelity reports 22% of plans were actively searching for a new advisor in 2023, with 37% making a change over the previous 12 months — as reported by [Fred Barstein at WealthManagement.com](https://www.wealthmanagement.com/rpa/401k-plan-sponsors-are-demanding-more-their-advisor) (read 2026-10-05).

## Which should you choose?

Choose **ERISApedia** if you are a TPA, an ERISA professional, or a CPA firm; if you need full-text search of filed attachments; or if your team already relies on its compliance research. Its published per-user pricing makes the budget easy to check, and nothing on this page argues against it.

Choose **FiduciarySignal** if you are an advisor whose bottleneck is deciding which plans to call — the territory ranked, the reason on each plan, the three reports for the meeting, and a ready-to-send email — on one published price of $90 a month after a 7-day trial, or $900 a year. Some firms will run both: research depth on one side, calling order on the other. Just be clear which problem is costing you meetings, because that is the one worth paying to solve first.
